Councillor Irene Oldfather was elected as a Labour representative for the Irvine East ward at the May 2012 local government elections.
Councillor Oldfather sits on the Police & Fire & Rescue Committee, the Local Development Plan Committee and the Irvine Locality Planning Partnership. She also represents North Ayrshire Council on the Glasgow Prestwick International Airport Consultative Committee and is a substitute member of both the Strathclyde Concessionary Travel Scheme Joint Committee and the West of Scotland European Forum.
Prior to re-joining local government in May 2012, Councillor Oldfather served for 3 sessions as an MSP Member for Cunninghame South from May 1999 until March 2011, where she was involved with numerous committee posts, Conveners Group, Economy, Energy & Tourism Committee, European & External Relations Committee and Health & Sport Committee
