Councillor Joy Brahim was elected as an SNP representative for Dalry and West Kilbride at the May 2017 Local Government Elections.
Councillor Brahim sits on the Audit and Scrutiny Committee, the Local Development Plan Committee and is a substitute member of both the Appeals Committee and Staffing and Recruitment. She also sits on North Ayrshire Council (Planning), NAC (Planning) (Pre-Determination Hearing) and the North Coast and Cumbrae Locality Partnership and represents North Ayrshire Council on the Speir’s Trust Committee.
Before moving to Scotland in 2010, Cllr Brahim worked as a Solicitor in The Netherlands, where she was admitted to the Bar of The Hague and the Supreme Court of The Netherlands. She also holds a degree in Marketing and works for Cunninghame North constituency MSP Kenneth Gibson in Dalry.
