2011 Referendum Results

A referendum on voting reform for the UK Parliament at Westminster took place across the UK on Thursday 4 May 2011.  The verification and counting of votes followed the day after on Friday 5 May 2011.

In Scotland, the referendum was conducted on the basis of Scottish Parliamentary Constituencies, with each Constituency result formining part of the overall UK result.  In North Ayrshire, the contest covered the Cunninghame North and Cunninghame South Scottish Parliamentary Constituencies.

The question posed was “At present the UK uses the ‘First Past the Post’ system to elect MPs to the House of Commons. Should the ‘alternative vote’ system be used instead?”

The results of the ballots in the Cunninghame North and Cunninghame South Constituencies are summarised below. You can open the full results sheet by cliccking on the 'Full Result' link.
