European Elections

European Parliamentary Elections will take place on Thursday 22 May 2014. The Electoral Region of Scotland will vote to return 6 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). Votes will be counted on Sunday 25 May and the results announced the day after by the Regional Returning Officer.

Statement of  Parties and Individual Candidates Nominated

Nominations for the European Parliamentary Elections closed on Thursday 24 April 2014. Those standing nominated in the Electoral Region of Scotland are confirmed by the Regional Returning Officer as those listed on the attached Statement of Parties and Individual Candidates and Notice of Poll (PDF, 184kb).

As there are more candidates, taking account of the candidates on the registered political parties’ regional lists, than the number of seats for the Electoral Region of Scotland, a poll will be taken on Thursday 22 May 2014 between the hours of 7am and 10pm. The names of the registered political parties will be printed on the ballot papers for this election in the same order as shown in the Statement.

Notice of Election Agents

The Regional Returning Officer has published a Notice of Election Agents (PDF, 303kb) together with a Note of Local Sub-Agents Appointed (PDF, 111kb), including those Agents for candidates standing only in the Electoral Region of Scotland.

The Local Returning Officer for North Ayrshire will contact the Election Agents with details of arrangements for the conduct of the Poll in North Ayrshire. This will include arrangements for appointing polling and counting agents.
