Councillor Anthony Gurney was first elected as an SNP Councillor in 2007.  Following the Scottish Local Government Election in May 2022, he continues to represent the Ardrossan Ward.  Councillor Gurney held the position of Cabinet Member with the Portfolio for Economy, Climate Change and Place up until February 2026 and now holds the position of Leader of the Council. Councillor Gurney is a member of the Three Towns Locality Partnership.
