Biography
Councillor Catherine McMillan was elected as an SNP representative for Dalry and West Kilbride at the May 2012 local government election and currently serves as an Independent member.
Councillor McMillan is the Chair of the Garnock Valley Locality Partnership and Vice Chair of the Police & Fire & Rescue Committee. She also sits on the Audit and Scrutiny Committee, the Licensing Committee and Board, the Communities & Lifelong Learning Advisory Panel. Councillor McMillan is the Chair of North Ayrshire Violence Against Women Forum and is a member of North Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership Board, Ayrshire Educational Trust, Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board and a substitute member of the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park Joint Management Committee.
Born and raised in North Ayrshire, Councillor McMillan attended both Largs High School and Dalry High School before going on to become a primary school teacher in a number of schools in the area. She is married with three children and five grandchildren, all of whom live in Dalry and has a wide range of interests, from local community groups to supporting the local football team, Dalry Thistle.
